Better than that, it’s SALINE XC!!!
The boys and girls have put in their summer work, and this Friday, our athletes will put themselves to the test in the annual Three-Mile Time Trial. While the kids just want to run fast, I want to make the 2017 trial the most well-attended to date!
Join us, Friday, August 18, at the High School Track, for an evening of fast running and a preview of the 2017 Saline XC teams.
Please note the change of location. Because of construction, we will start and finish at the high school track. Use this course map to help you spectate. The boys will begin at 7:00 PM. The girls will start at 7:30 PM.
And I hate to make promises, but this year may be one of the fastest and most spectator-friendly trials we have seen. I think I kind of just made two promises.
For the Boys…
When you’re Saline, you cannot be “under the radar,” and this group includes some well-known names. The 2016 champion, Jevin Nishioka, will look to repeat. A slew of seniors, including Anthony DeKraker, Josh Cook, Aidan Delfuoco, and Neil Garg have their own plans. Will “WMD” Downey could spoil it for all of them.
For the Girls…
Three words: Healthy Jessi Larson. Last year’s winner, Reagan Barsch, has graduated, but the next five athletes are back to make their own mark. In total, Saline has lost just three of their top 15 athletes from last year’s trial, and Coach Creutz has Kayla Fortino, Juliana Romero, Kaitlyn Szafranski, Emma Cummings and more running far, swimming long, and looking like athletes ready to race.
I hope you will come out on Friday evening for a great night of running from all of our athletes. While a few will get to be part of the lead pack, we have a lot of youngsters that work hard and enjoy the support of our community. Our new course will make it easy for you to watch and cheer.
